“Verb Valency in “My Story” of Reader’s Digest Magazine”

The objective of this research was to find out the frequency and the kinds of the valence used in my story column at Reader’s Digest magazine, that is how many types of verb valence were used in My story of reader’s digest and dominant type of verb valence used in it. The data were obtained from the Reader’s Digest Magazine published at a few months in 2008. After reading the data, the researcher analyzed it to know the kinds of valence inside, and the researcher counted the valence to know the dominant types of valence. The finding shows shows that there are 196 sentences with contain valences, whereas monovalent consist of 41 sentences, divalent consist of 71 sentences, trivalent consist of 48 sentences, four valent consist of 20 sentences, five valent consist of 11 sentences, six valent consist of 3 sentences and seven valent consist of 2 sentence. and the dominant valence in the My Story Reader’s Digest Magazine is divalent with 71 number of sentences
